Sod should be laid correctly. Your soil should be prepared before you lay the sod. Remove weeds and break your soil until all the clumps are gone. Compact the soil firmly but lightly, and make certain it is flat. Make sure you work with a moist soil. Lay the sod in rows, and make sure the joints do not overlap. Press the sod down firmly so that the surface is flat and even. If there are gaps remaining, fill them with a bit of soil. Water the sod each day for two weeks so it will become well-rooted and ready for foot traffic.
Start your plants in containers, and then transplant the seedlings into the garden later on. This increases the chance that your plants will survive to adulthood. This also helps tighten time between plantings. Your seedlings will be ready to be planted when you remove your old mature plants.
CO2 is essential for growth. A high level of CO2 provides an optimum environment for growth. Growing plants in a greenhouse is the best way to contain CO2 for use by your plants. When it is exposed to high carbon dioxide levels, a plant has the best growing condition possible.

When mowing your lawn do not cut it as short as possible. Cutting your grass at a taller height allows grass roots to grow deeper and stronger, which helps lessen the chance of your lawn drying out easily. If the grass is too short, it produces shallow roots and that leads to a lawn with brown spots and dried-out patches.
Irises should be divided. Try increasing your stock by dividing your overgrown clumps of plants. Uproot bulbous irises if the flowers have wilted. The iris bulbs should easily split apart in your hand. Once you replant them, they will have a good flower show the following year. Utilize a knife if you are trying to divide rhizomes. Cut the center out of each rhizome but save the pieces. Every piece is suppose to have at least one durable offshoot. Replant them immediately.
To keep dogs from disturbing your garden, spray some old aftershave, cologne, perfume or other strongly-scented products in the dirt or grass surrounding it. These scents overpower the garden’s scents, which causes your dog to lose interest.
Your children can help you with your garden. Helping a garden grow is an excellent learning experience for kids, and it allows your family to spend time together while creating healthy, nutritious foods.
