There are so many tools and methods to grow an all-natural, vibrant and healthy garden. All you need to do is find out what they are, and then use them.
To prevent shocking your plants, you must gradually introduce new temperatures and other conditions to them. Start by placing your plants outside for a few hours only. Over a period of several days, slowly increase the time they are allowed to stay outside. After a few more days, your plants will be more resistant and ready to stay outside all the time.
Measuring Sticks
Your tool handles can double as measuring sticks. Large handled tools such as shovels, rakes, and hoes can be used as measuring sticks. Lay the handles onto the floor and place a measuring tape beside them. You can label distances using a permanent marker. Next time you work in the garden, you can have a larger ruler with you!
Do not cut your grass too short. If you leave your grass a bit longer, the roots can grow deeper. This results in a lawn that is stronger and less likely to dry out. The shorter the grass is, the shorter the roots are, which leads to a dry lawn.
Balance your alkaline soil with the acid found in used coffee grounds. The coffee grounds are a very inexpensive way to add acid back into the dirt. The right soil will make your vegetables taste better and make your flowers more vibrant and aromatic.
It is best to aerate and dry your plants daily. Moisture not only attracts parasites, but also makes it easier for your plants to contract diseases. In fact, fungi love a wet plant and can cause a great deal of damage. It is possible to get rid of fungi after it appears with anti-fungal sprays, but it’s better to spray at-risk areas before fungi appear.
Think about planting evergreen plants that will produce berries in the backyard. This will allow your garden to have color, even in the dreary winter months. Some evergreens that will provide winter color are the American Holly, Common Snowberry, American Cranberrybush, and the Winterberry.
Give them a boost by watering them with the cooled water that is left after steaming vegetables. If you have rhododendrons or gardenias, use coffee and tea grounds to acidify the soil. If you are having problems with fungus, you may find that sprinkling Chamomile tea on the plant is effective.
Gardening is a great relaxation activity. A plethora of paths to individual relaxation and inner peace exist. Of these, gardening is by far one of the most enjoyable and easiest to start. It does not have a large start-up cost and yields many returns. Perhaps the most rewarding aspect is the sense of peace and calm that comes from nurturing your plants.
When gardening, remember to take care of your knees! It’s not a good idea to spend much time standing while you are bent over at the waist. You can get to your plants without straining your back if you kneel in your working area. You can buy a knee pad, put it on the ground and kneel on it so that you wont have to deal with knee pain.
Have all of your tools available to you as you garden to increase efficiency. Put them into a basket you carry with you, or use an apron with many pockets and hanging loops. You should be able to do your garden work quickly if you keep a trowel, gloves, small pruning shears, and other handy devices close to you.
A garden can be planted by anybody. However, those who have taken time to do research will gain the most from their crops. It is important to put these organic tips to good use.
